Masterclass

Think you "can't do art"? Come along and discover your creativity in this class whilst you make a whimsical fine silver pendant - a Mini Mixed Media Book Pendant (PLUS a your very own handmade notebook!).

Is it a pretty silver pendant? Is it a book that tells a tale? Is it a photograph album? Is it a mini journal to record a special occasion or your thoughts and dreams? Is it a mini art journal? Or is it all of these things and more?

In this masterclass Leigh will take you on an exploration of different materials and media, and you'll be bringing transferrable paper crafting skills to your metal clay work, including die cutting, heat embossing and mixed media crafting to create a unique and totally personal piece of wearable art.

Leigh is brilliant at encouraging her students to play and let loose, and she comes armed with a fabulous amount of inspiring material - being in her class is usually an explosion of colour and texture! And lots of laughter - perfect way to spend the day!

This class is for ALL skill levels, you can make this project as simple or as detailed as you like.  Unlike other classes which follow a specific design plan, you have an ‘open design’ opportunity which means you can copy one of the samples if you wish, or create your own design.

All mixed media materials and ephemera will be supplied, with instruction, to create the contents for your own book.  Leigh will be bringing along her UV Resin Kit, Alcohol Inks & Vintaj Patinas to play with. Liver of Sulphur, Platinol & Black Max will be available to patina your work should you choose to do so.

In addition to making your Mini Mixed Media Book Locket you will also make a hand-bound A6 notebook which you will use to record your design process and ideas during the day, for note-taking through demos and to work through your design plan.

You will be making in Metal Clay: A book pendant, various decorative pieces and a clasp if required.

Experience needed: Ideal for beginners.
Important: this is a judgement-free space, ‘real-life’, perfect drawings or beautiful handwriting are
certainly not essential.
